I Love Lucy: Season Four / Paramount
Reported Defect:
The Episodes "First Stop", "Tennessee Bound", "L.A. At Last", and "Lucy Gets in Pictures" are the shorter syndicated versions, not the
original Network Broadcast versions. The first pressing of season 4 had reports of video issues with "The Fashion Show" on disc 4.
Confirmation:
Gregg Oppenheimer, the producer of the I Love Lucy DVDs, has confirmed the issues with Season 4.
The shorter syndicated versions were used for episodes that Desilu had cut for Network Rebroadcasts.
Unfortunately, they had been cut using the original 35mm film.
Gregg found the missing footage, but the quality was too poor to put directly back into the scenes.
Solution:
- Paramount has recompressed the episode "The Fashion Show" to make sure there are no further issues with it.
- The cut scenes will be added to the Season 5 DVDs as Bonus Material.
